Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold

Benedict Arnold, born in Connecticut during 1741, was anxious for action after the battles at Lexington and Concord. He asked the Massachusetts Committee of Safety for permission to capture Ft. Ticonderoga where the Redcoats kept weapons and ammunition.

Together with Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys, Arnold and his troops surprised the British garrison on the 10th of May, 1775. They captured the fort, and appropriated the weapons, without firing a shot.

A few years later, a disgruntled Arnold turned traitor.
