Bessie Coleman - French License to Fly

Bessie Coleman - French License to Fly Tragedies and Triumphs Biographies African American History Social Studies Aviation & Space Exploration

Bessie Coleman completed her flight training, in France, and was awarded her pilot's license in 1921.  She was the first African-American female to do so.

This is a photo of her her actual license.  With it, she returned to the States - for a time - before she studied more sophisticated flying in Europe.
