British Troops Landing at Gold Beach Visual Arts Famous Historical Events World War II

British troops were assigned the Normandy landings at Gold Beach. Their objective was to capture the town of Bayeux and get control of the Caen-Bayeux road.  If they were successful, the Allies could establish east-west communications in the area.
