Carolyn Bryant was running the cash register at Bryant's Grocery and Meat Market - in Money, Mississippi - when Emmett Till visited the store to buy candy.  She was 21-years-old at the time, and the mother of two young sons.

When her husband, Roy Bryant, found out that Emmett Till had whistled at his wife - a few days earlier, when Roy was out of town - he was furious.  He and his half-brother, J.W. Milam, thereafter abducted Till from his great-uncle's home during the middle of the night.

Carolyn divorced her husband, Roy Bryant, in 1979
