Cerro El Plomo - Gravesite of Mummy Ancient Places and/or Civilizations Geography History Social Studies STEM Disasters

In 1954, climbers on Cerro El Plomo - a mountain in Chile - found the mummified remains of a young Inca boy who likely died sometime between 1480-1540.

This image depicts the location of the child's grave site near the top of the mountain.

In the background, from left-to-right, we see:  Marmolejo (6,108 meters), San José (5,856 m), Loma Larga (5,404 m) and Mesón Alto (5,257 m).
