Cerro del Toro Mummy

Cerro del Toro Mummy Geography Social Studies STEM Visual Arts World History Ancient Places and/or Civilizations

About 20 years old when he died, the mummy found by Erich Grogh and his climbing party, in 1964, is now known as the "Cerro El Toro Mummy."

Found at 20,650 feet (6,300 meters), where the temperatures are consistently freezing-cold, the young man was wearing only a kind of breech cloth when he was placed into a pit, lined with stones, not far from the mountain's summit.  He froze to death.
