Churchill - Blood, Toil, Tears and Sweat

Winston Churchill became Prime Minister on the 10th of May, 1940.  Three days later, he addressed the House of Commons.

Warning his countrymen that the war would not be over soon, he pledged that he would give his all to defend Britain - including his blood, toil, tears and sweat.

This clip - of Churchill's first speech to the Commons as Prime Minister - is an excerpt from the BBC's documentary series, A History of Britain.  The segment is introduced by the historian, Simon Schama.
