Colonel Adelbert Ames - Portrait

Colonel Adelbert Ames - Portrait Visual Arts American History Civil Wars Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs

Union Colonel Adelbert Ames fought in the Battle of Bull Run.  He was eventually promoted to general and was awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery in battle.

Ames was the oldest surviving general officer of the war when he died, aged ninety-seven, in 1933.
