Dallas Police Officer J.D. Tippit

Soon after President Kennedy was fatally shot in Dallas, on 22 November 1963, Officer J.D. Tippit was patrolling the Oak Cliffs area of Dallas, Texas.

He stopped his car to talk with a pedestrian. That pedestrian was reportedly Lee Harvey Oswald who shot and killed Officer Tippit.

These images, which depict Officer Tippit, were taken by an unnamed photographer working for the Dallas Police Department. Tippit had been with the Dallas Police since July of 1952. When he died, he left his wife (Marie) and three children.

Note that not all investigators accept the Oswald killed Tippit.
