Escaping the Great Depression

Escaping the Great Depression Social Studies American History Visual Arts

During the Great Depression, out-of-work people (like these, circa 1935) gathered their possessions and traveled on bad roads seeking a better life elsewhere.  At the time, America did not have an Interstate highway system.  Roads, like those depicted in this picture, were often impassable.
