Flavius Aetius

Flavius Aetius Ancient Places and/or Civilizations Famous People World History Visual Arts

Image of Flavius Aetius, a Roman commander who knew Atilla the Hun.

The Huns often captured the children of high-ranking Romans to use as hostages.  Aetius was one such captive.

While under the authority of the Huns, Aetius met Atilla.  The knowledge each possessed about the other would come in handy later in their lives (when they opposed each other on the field of battle).
