Fukushima Nuclear Plant - Explosion

The Fukushima Nuclear Plant—one of many similar facilities supplying  Japan with electrical power—was impacted by an 8.9 earthquake and resulting tsunami off the coast of Honshu (one of Japan's "home islands").

Then ... on the 12th of March, 2011 ... the #1 plant of the Fukushima complex—operated by Tokyo Electric Power Company—sustained an explosion. This clip, of that event, was aired by worldwide media.

The Japanese government said workers are doing all they can to prevent a catastrophic meltdown of the reactor's core.

Time will tell how successful they were.
