Guillaume Manchon Signature

Guillaume Manchon, a priest, was the recorder at Joan of Arc's trial in which she was found guilty.  Later, he was involved in efforts to clear her name and set-aside the verdict against her.

Manchon - whose signature appears above - was distraught over the verdict and death sentence.  Of him, it was said:

He never wept so much for any sorrow in all his life, and for a month he could not be quiet for sorrow: and he bought a book of prayers and prayed for the soul of the Maid.
