Henry F. Osborn - Named T. rex

Henry F. Osborn - Named T. rex Biographies Social Studies STEM Visual Arts

In 1905, Henry Fairfield Osborn (1857-1935) gave a name to a ferocious-appearing dinosaur.   He used a Latin phrase - Tyrannosaurus rex - to describe the "Tyrant Lizard-King."

Osborne, who led fossil-hunting expeditions in the American West, was a key contributor to the American Museum of Natural History.  Not only did he expand the museum’s research program, he also expanded its exhibits.
