This image depicts a well-known portrait of the British monarch, King Henry VIII.

He married six wives and had three children who lived past infancy.  Each of his children ascended to the throne:  Edward VI, Mary I and Elizabeth I.

When he could not get a papal dispensation to divorce his first wife (Catherine of Aragon), he declared that England was no longer Catholic and that he was head of the Church of England.

He remains one of Britain's most-famous monarchs.
