Ignaz Moscheles

Ignaz Moscheles

Ignaz Moscheles (1794-1870) was a composer and brilliant pianist who was also a good friend of Beethoven.

Although he had traveled throughout Europe, performing and conducting, Moscheles settled in London around 1825.  Involved with the London Philharmonic Society, he was instrumental in commissioning work for Beethoven in his later years.

Moscheles was one of the last individuals to whom Beethoven wrote during his final days.
