Isaac Cline Disasters Famous Historical Events Social Studies STEM Biographies

Isaac Cline was the official U.S. weatherman in Galveston on the 8th and 9th of September, 1900.   He did not have sufficient tools to predict - or understand - the events which were occurring as the "Great Storm of 1900" made its way toward Galveston.

Like many other residents of Galveston, Cline lost a close family member - his wife - when the waters of the Gulf temporarily swallowed the island.
