This image depicts a victim of atrocities committed against Filipinos by the Japanese military.  The photo is included in the Report on the Destruction of Manila and Japanese Atrocities:  February 1945NOTE that this official document, of atrocities, is very difficult to read and its pictures are very disturbing.

The report describes this photo:

Lourdes Ental - She was taken to the fields to be assaulted and upon refusing to submit, hand grenades were thrown at her.  One exploded in front of her face as she was lying on the ground.  Photo taken in the (San Lazaro Hospital, Manila, P.I.).
