Weighing-in before their boxing match, Jimmy Braddock and Tommy Farr (a Welshman known as the "Tonypandy Terror") shake hands.  This image depicts a press photo released at about the time of their 21 January 1938 fight.

Although Braddock won the match, both men have equally interesting personal stories.  As Braddock used boxing to lift himself and his family out of the Great Depression, so to did Farr use boxing as a way out of the "punishingly poor life" of a Welsh coal miner.
