Joseph and Magda Goebbels - With Their Children

Joseph Goebbels idolized Adolf Hitler.  Early in his Nazi career, he wrote these words in his diary:

Hitler is there. Great joy. He greets me like an old friend. And looks after me. How I love him! What a fellow! Then he speaks. How small I am. He gives me his photograph. With a greeting to the Rhineland. Heil Hitler! I want Hitler to be my friend. His photograph is on my desk.

Believing, passionately, in whatever Hitler said and did, Goebbels also noted:

When the Führer speaks it is like a divine service.

The day after Hitler committed suicide, Joseph and Magda Goebbels decided to do the same thing.  They also murdered their children.  Each child was poisoned, either by their parents or at their parents’ direction.  All died, except for Magda’s son Harald Quandt (pictured here, in a Luftwaffe uniform).

The names of the Goebbels children are:  Helga, Hildegard, Helmut, Hedwig, Holdine and Heidrun.
