This photo - taken by the famous Hungarian-born, combat-photographer Robert Capa (1913-1954) - depicts a scene in the newly liberated cathedral city of Chartres, France.  It is the 18th of August, 1944, and a French girl has had her head shaved for fraternizing with a German soldier.
