Light: How Fast Does it Travel?

Recent research reveals that Einstein was a “truly infuriating student.”  He was given reprimands (for lack of diligence in the physics lab).  Although his grades were mixed, their pattern demonstrates he was diligent in subjects he loved and fairly derelict in those he didn’t like.

During his university years, Einstein continued to think about light.  How fast did it travel?  Was its speed unchanging?  Einstein (unlike others at the time) thought so, but he could not get the university position he desired (which would have allowed him to devote research to the subject).  He had made too many mistakes (and antagonized the wrong professor) during his student days.
