This image depicts an an engraving, by H. de la Charlevie, of King Louis XVI meeting with his spiritual advisor, Henry Essex Edgeworth, before the King's execution.

Edgeworth was summoned to the Temple - a prison in Paris where the King and his family were incarcerated - on the 20th of January, 1793.  He remained with the King until Louis was beheaded the next day.
