Mangal Pandey and the Sepoy Uprising

In 1857, and before, British rulers in India used local soldiers (called "Sepoys") to supplement Britain's army on the subcontinent.  An incident that year, led by Mangal Pandey, caused the Sepoys to rebel against the power of the East India Company and British rule in their land.

This video clip includes a recreation of events which ultimately led to the execution of Mangal Pandey on the 8th of August, 1857.
