By the sixth day of the Bataan Death March, American and Filipino soldiers had reached San Fernando (on Luzon Island, the Philippines) where they were herded into railway cars.

The day before, a Japanese guard had viciously beat three Americans with a horse whip.

The map image also depicts where the POWs walked and where they traveled by rail.  After their train arrived at the Capas station, the men walked seven additional miles to Camp O'Donnell.
