Mining Conditions - Vincent's Drawing Social Studies Visual Arts Nineteenth Century Life Tragedies and Triumphs

Van Gogh began drawing pictures of Belgian miners, and their working conditions, in September of 1880.  

This drawing (from April, 1881) depicts mining women carrying sacks in Brussels.  The original is currently at the Kröeller-Müeller Museum in Otterlo, Netherlands.
