Navajo Reservation - Poor Roads Caused Wash-outs Education American History Native-Americans and First Peoples  Social Studies Tragedies and Triumphs Disasters

At about the time the federal government recruited members of the Navajo Nation to serve as Code Talkers during World War II, crudely built roads on the Navajo Reservation often caused washouts. 

We see one such incident depicted in this picture.
