Oahu - The Gathering Place

Oahu - The Gathering Place Ancient Places and/or Civilizations Geography Social Studies Visual Arts World History

In ancient times, Hawaiians referred to Oahu as "The Gathering Place."  It is still the most-populated of all the Hawaiian Islands.

This map depicts numerous locations on Oahu.  Note, among other things, downtown Honolulu and Hickam Field.  The land for those places, plus others, was once owned by Hawaii's royal family.

With 112 miles of coastline, Oahu is 44 miles long and 30 miles wide.
