Owen Chase Was Emaciated When Rescued

By the time the Essex survivors were rescued, in February of 1821, they were completely emaciated.

This image depicts Chris Hemsworth, who played Owen Chase in "The Heart of the Sea," after a 500-calories-a-day diet caused his dramatic weight loss. Hemsworth tweeted this photo, via his Twitter account, on November 22, 2015.

The picture of his emaciated state was accompanied by these words:

Just tried a new diet/training program called ‘Lost At Sea’. Wouldn’t recommend it.

For comparison purposes, the tweeted picture is contrasted with Hemsworth as he appears for his role in the "Thor" and "Avenger" films.
