Pelops Statue

Pelops Statue Archeological Wonders Social Studies Visual Arts Ancient Places and/or Civilizations

Pelops was one of the featured characters in the original work adorning the east pediment of the Temple of Zeus in ancient Olympia.

This image depicts a cast of the head of Pelops.  The original statue, made of marble, was made around 460 B.C.  Found in Olympia, the artifact depicted here is maintained by the Olympia Museum.
