Pteranodon - Reconstructed Image

Pteranodon - Reconstructed Image American History Archeological Wonders STEM Visual Arts World History

Based on fossilized remains, this image depicts how a Pteranodon may have appeared when it lived during the Cretaceous Period.

Known as an "air dragon," Pteranodons may have swooped down for their prey from their posts high in a tree.  Paleontologists believe that these creatures could not walk well on land.

This drawing, which depicts a Pteranodon sternbergi, is from the Sternberg Museum of Natural History in Hays, Kansas.
