Rasputin - Conspiracy to Murder

As Russia descends into chaos, during the days of World War I, the people burn effigies of Nicholas and Alexandra.  Leading members of the aristocracy believe that Rasputin must go.

Summoned by the Empress, Rasputin is questioned by a leading cleric of the Russian Orthodox Church.  He admits that he merely had a vision of the Virgin Mary - that he did not have an encounter with her.

Meanwhile ... Prince Felix Yussupov asks Rasputin to come to his home.  His wife, he claims, is extremely ill and needs Rasputin's help.

In fact, Yussupov - and other members of the aristocracy - plan to murder the monk.  On the 16th of December, 1916 - or, using the Gregorian calendar, December 29th - the plot unfolds.
