Routes From Picadilly Circus to the Normandy Beaches

Routes From Picadilly Circus to the Normandy Beaches Famous Historical Events Visual Arts World War II Geography

This French-language graphic depicts where the assault troops had trained (in England) and where they assembled (at "Picadilly Circus") to make the Channel crossing.

It also depicts which forces landed at which locations on the Normandy coast:

  • The "western group" consisted of Americans who would attack at Utah and Omaha.
  • The "eastern group" consisted of British forces (who would assault the beaches at Gold and Sword) and Canadian troops (who would lead the assault at Juno).
