Selma - Trailer

Selma, a 2014 film, is about the efforts, by civil-rights activists, to march between Selma and Montgomery, during March of 1965.

The first attempt to march was stopped by law-enforcement personnel who thereafter attacked the peaceful marchers. Those events (of March 7, 1965) became known as "Bloody Sunday."

Activits attempted two further marches, soon after; the first became "Turnaround Tuesday," but the second—authorized by a federal court order—was successful.

The film, focusing on the efforts of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (portrayed by David Oyelowo) to obtain voting rights for African-Americans, takes us back to a turbulent time in American history.
