September 11 Attack - Eyewitness Interviews

New York City was clear and beautiful on the morning of September 11, 2001.  What actually transpired on that warm, late-summer day was utterly unexpected.

Shocked eyewitnesses reported what they saw to harried journalists and unprepared TV presenters who did the best they could with a chaotic situation.

The first television station, to report the attack, was WNYW-TV (Channel 5) in New York.  Reporters there broke the story at 8:48 a.m., two minutes after impact of the first strike. Other stations followed quickly thereafter, with their own news bulletins.
