St. Denis - Ambulatory Window

St. Denis - Ambulatory Window Geography Medieval Times Philosophy Visual Arts

Photograph, by Beckstet, of the Cathedral at Saint-Denis.  Originally a Benedictine monastry, it was the origin of Gothic architecture in France. The fascade and choir date to 1135-44, while the nave dates from 1231.

The Ambulatory was built by Abbot Suger.
