Tenerife Crash - FAA Animation

This video clip is an updated FAA animation of the Tenerife accident which occurred on the 27th of March, 1977.

A Boeing 747-206B - with call letters PH-BUF - was operating as KLM Flight 4805.  It had a ground collision with a Boeing 747-121 - with call letters N735PA - operating as Pan American Flight 1736.

The deadliest accident, in aviation history, occurred at Tenerife, Canary Islands (Spain).

With a total of 583 fatalities, the crash remains the deadliest accident in aviation history:

  • All 248 passengers and crew aboard the KLM flight were killed.
  • There were also 335 fatalities and 61 survivors on the Pan Am flight.
