Titanic - Checking Passengers for Disease

Photo of a scene that depicts checking Titanic passengers for disease

Before passengers could board a ship, like the Titanic, they had to be checked for contagious diseases.  If a doctor found anything suspicious, the passenger was not allowed to get on the ship.

One way of detecting a potential problem was to examine a person's eyes.  In this photo, we see that event taking place before individuals were allowed to board the Titanic.
