Death of Jesus - Burial in a New Tomb

Death of Jesus - Burial in a New Tomb Biographies Philosophy Trials Visual Arts

The Gospels tell us that after Jesus died, his friends asked Pilate for permission to bury him.  Joseph of Arimathea owned a suitable tomb, in a garden, which would be used for that purpose.

Vittore Carpaccio artistically interpreted what happened with his work, entitled The Dead Christ.  The tempera on canvas, which Carpaccio painted, c. 1520, is now maintained at the Staatliche Museen in Berlin, Germany.
