Trial of Jesus - Carrying the Cross
This image depicts the detail of a painting by Tintoretto which shows Jesus carrying the cross.
Tintoretto created the painting depicted in this image - “Ascent to Calvary” - for the Scuola Grande di San Rocco between 1566 and 1567. Located in Venice, the building is near the Church of San Rocco. Its walls and ceiling contain many paintings by Tintoretto and his assistants, and this is one of them.
