What It's Like: A Personal Story of Suffering - Tell Me a Story

TELL ME A STORY
By Janice Veldman

Tell me a story, grandma

Once upon a time
there was a little boy
who happened to
Have the same name as you
He loved adventure
This is a tale of such
that the two of them
wandered off into a land
into which only the two of them walked

Tell me a story grandma
There is no more to tell
Her lips turning down

Then I shall tell you one
Once upon a time
a little boy who happened
to have my name and his grandma…
Quietly she listened
and after a time her lips turned upward

The story unfamiliar
The time spent a dim recall
A moment shared that seemed familiar
She does not know him
Though there may have been an adventurous boy.
